Alt-indie rockers GARDEN are Close Up Promotion’s Artist Spotlight this week as the Northampton trio continue to make inroads on the indie landscape following their new single ‘Halfway House’. Check out their exclusive interview with them below to get the latest gossip on new music and more!

GARDEN! It’s great to have a chat! We love your music as you well know. We’re keen to hear about your live shows, what does a GARDEN live show usually bring?

Lots of mistakes! Hopefully they bring a range of energy and song genres to keep the audience interested and on their toes. We find that playing different styles helps keep everything just as exciting for us to play too.

What part of the musical process do you enjoy most, and why? is it performing live, creating your tracks, or..?

As boring as it is I think we all love every aspect for different reasons! It’s very exciting and satisfying hearing everything come together in the studio into a finished product but it’s just as fun to put the songs to the test and let loose together on stage! It’s always rewarding to see audiences reactions to songs we’ve worked so hard on

If you created a GARDEN festival, and could pick three headliners, who would you go for?

I think we’d want to keep the idea of a wide range of energy and genres between songs so I think we’d have to go for Pearl Jam, Wolf Alice and Radiohead.

4) Your latest release, ‘Halfway House’, was just released in September – nice one! How are you finding releasing music during these strange and weird times?

We set out to do a single every month of this year so we can directly compare pre-pandemic to now…weirdly we haven’t found it very different in terms of the reception of our releases. It’s very frustrating not being able to promote our releases by playing live though, we can’t wait for everything to go back to normal so we can get back to playing gigs!

If GARDEN could play any support slot at any venue in the world – who would it be and why?

This is a near impossible question to answer… I think we’d have to support Wolf Alice as we’ve watched them together multiple times and they’ve never failed to inspire us. In terms of venue I think we’d go for Brixton O2 Academy, it’s a brilliant venue to go to and looks nice too!

Listen to ‘Halfway House’ now.
