Lauran Hibberd releases satire-fuelled ‘2nd prettiest girl (in the world)’

Power pop queen Lauran Hibberd is gearing up for next month’s sophomore album with the satire-fuelled single ‘2nd prettiest girl (in the world)’.

The single is a neat stepping stone between the first LP and its successor ‘Girlfriend Material’ (due March 22nd) in both sound and subject matter. Hitting home with nostalgic 00s pop, ‘2nd prettiest girl (in the world)’ it shows Lauran in a more confident and comfortable setting.

Entering new ground and expanding on her already exceptional skillset, the track together forever influences like Avril Lavigne, Weezer and Green Day.

Detailing her newest single release, which follows 2023 LP reveals ‘I Such At Grieving’, ‘Mary’ and ‘Honda Civic’, Hibberd details a rather awkward date.

“An unfortunate true story, does fortunately always start a good song,” says Lauran Hibberd. “I went on a date last year, and was told I was the second prettiest girl in the room. I actually said thank you (I need help). I started writing this song the next day. It became my personality. This has been one of my personal favourites on my new album ‘girlfriend material’ for ages, it’s torturously relatable.”

I mean, what was that guy thinking – rookie error! Hailing from the Isle of Wight, Lauran is following up on her debut LP ‘Garageband Superstar’ which received widespread acclaim.

Fresh from rapturously received UK, US and Australian tour 2023 support runs alongside cult US alt-rockers All Time Low, the indie songwriter headed back out on the road in January for several dates alongside Hobo Johnson, and has recently announced an extensive in-store tour run to coincide with her album release.
