Roadkeeper release scuzzy psych-rock anthem ‘Enemy Mine’

Drenched in scuzzy rock and cinematic synths, new band on the block Roadkeeper have released their new single ‘Enemy Mine’.

Hailing from Texas, the quartet are an independent band who produce all of their own tracks. They combine lyrical emphasis with oozing amounts of shoegaze and psychedelia.

Comprising of producer John Eric Hetherington, guitarist Trevor Tull, bassist Daniel Griffith and drummer Nicklaus Cogdill, the band are now onto their seventh single ‘Enemy Mine’.

Unlike their previous release ‘Downs’, Roadkeeper propel their sound from slow-swaying melodies to roaring guitar rock. The single was written about the far right movement feeding misinformation and radicalising vulnerable young people in their home country by white nationalist professional pundits.

“There is an organized effort to convert impressionable young people into radical white supremacists,” said the band. “And encourage them to undertake radical action against marginalized people and progressive political movements.”

‘Enemy Mine’ is about the dissonance between the perceived realities of radical white supremacists and that of everyone else.

Since Roadkeeper’s formation in 2018, they have released a stream of singles each with their own unique slant. Whether that be a psych jam like ‘Sundowners’, post-punk infused ‘Gushers’, or the pastoral ‘Old Man’s War’.

With their choice of genre always in their conscious, it has an effect on what they also write about the ever-changing time we live in from politics to the environment.
