Roadkeeper create a dreamy aesthetic of shoegaze and psych rock

Texan quartet Roadkeeper have released a new single ‘Sundowners’ which is a dreamy aesthetic of shoegaze and psychedelic rock.

Formed in 2018, Roadkeeper are from a town called Tyler by producer/vocalist John Eric Hetherington, drummer Nicklaus Cogdill, guitarist Trevor Tull and bassist Daniel Griffith.

Throughout their catalogue of music, the band tackle the hot topics in American society including racism, police violence and border issues through the power of post-punk, swirling painting of synths and careful layering of psych rock guitars.

Their latest single ‘Sundowners’ is inspired by climate change doomsayers in our day of social media warriors.

Discussing the track, the band said: “It is irresponsible to the younger generations coming up for older pundits and influencers to take a totally cynical tone and write world issues off as an apocalypse without using some of their time and talents to highlight the ongoing efforts to mitigate these issues

“Botched apocalypses are survived by undeserving generations that are left to pick up the pieces. Performing cynicism online just to lead a cultural tone or to be at the front of the zeitgeist does a disservice to the less privileged who will have to deal with the worst of the thing.”
