Southampton four-piece The Dead Freights have shared new single ‘Stray Dogs’.

The band have enjoyed a recent return to live shows, selling out two socially distanced gigs at local venue The Stage Door.

They’re keen to keep the hype going with their latest cut, which has a whiff of early Arctic Monkeys around it with a catchy bop-along riff. It also dabbles in slightly more alternative territory for the band, with a vocal that slips into punk at times, and some heavier guitar work.

They’ve also released a totally DIY music video, explaining: “We feature gun imagery, arson and things genuinely falling apart. About half-way through you see Spencer (bassist) accidentally knocking over a light, you see Charlie in slow motion mouthing ‘fuck sake’ and you witness a fire really shitting us up with its unexpected ferocity.

“There’s definitely something to be said for the energy you get on screen when there is genuine fear of catching on fire”

“This may look to the average onlooker like a bit of organised chaos but, in reality, it was actual chaos! Lessons in health and safety were learned along the way but more excitingly this experience has sparked many new ideas for us.”
