Norwegian indie pop prowess Marie Ulven is swooping over the world with her infectious and empowering lo-fi indie pop and 2021 could just push the singer-songwriter further.

The sixth reveal in the ICM Ones To Watch 2021 series, girl in red has been gradually building up her reputation over the past 12 months since she was plastered on the covers on Gay Times, Dork and NME in December 19/January 20.

Ulven writes, records, produces and masters everything she releases. She’s got some talent and girl in red is listened to by over 7.7 million monthly listeners and has amassed over half a billion streams is a seriously impressive achievement.

Her ethereal vocals and her cinematic atmospherics from the piano ballads to the plucking of each guitar string is enough to make your spine tingle with excitement. This is just proven even more when you hear her Christmas single ‘two queens in a king size bed’. Girl in red is an outspoken member of the LGBTQ community, and she discusses her sexuality, life experiences and emotions with a soft touch.

With her debut album in the pipeline, her first offering taken from it, ‘rue’ is just the start of what’s to come.
