Returning for a second year we have just announced our Best Music video Nominees for 2020.

There was a strong list of contenders which we have narrowed down to a top five to share with you.

Easy Life – ‘Daydreams’

Despite only lasting for two minutes and 41 seconds, Easy LIfe’s track ‘Daydreams’ is a dreamy alternative anthem (read our review here). The music video is a work of art. Directed by Max Siedentopf, the crew have creatively captured the essence of Easy LIfe. From idyllic scenes in sunflowers fields to the mundane reality of Murray alone, the video was shot on an experimental camera which is just another hallmark about Easy Life. Breaking down that genre barrier in style. The already quirky band have been growing a rapidly expanding fanbase over the past year and their Junk Food EP reached #7 in the UK charts. Do you think this video could win?

HUNYBEES – ‘Ecstasy’

Hertfordshire band HUNYBEES have bursted out onto the scene with summery and danceable indie pop, and catching our eye in the process. ‘Ecstasy’ is the duo’s debut single (check out our review here) is a bouncy and boppy three minute tune. The video captured the band’s night out and meeting a girl. Revolving around love, drugs and friendship, joint director and producers Hannah Brown and Bradley Martin have done a great job here and brought together a well-choreographed show. Will they be crowned winners?

APRE – ‘I Know I’ll Find It’

APRE are a band that never fails to impress. As last year’s Greatest Discovery 2019 winners, the duo have taken 2020 by the bull horns to release a mini-album ‘Always In My Head’. The slightly eerie music video has brilliant lighting to make the most out of the horror-like shadows. With this London band, the sky’s the limit. Are APRE going to beat the rest?

Lauran Hibberd – ‘Boy Bye’

The video for Lauran Hibberd’s ‘Boy Bye’ was an excuse to get all of her friends around, some nice suits on and all jam together (see our review here). Hibberd is joined by Zuzu, Jerry Williams and Louise Bartle (Bloc Party, Novacub) as they rock around a cottage-core set of dreams. Hibberd notes that filming the video was ‘low key the best day of her life’ and the video is the everlasting proof to that. Cinematic odes to Girl Power, laced alongside clips of shaving foam and making sandwiches – ‘Boy Bye’ is a strong contender for video of the year.

Black Honey – ‘I Like The Way You DIe’

What a sinister-sounding slice of indie rock from Black Honey as they gear up for their sophomore album. Key single ‘I Like The Way You Die’ get all the aesthetics right on the music video. Taking notes from Cluedo – was it Mrs White in the hall with the dagger? – the creepy old fashioned mansion is the ideal place to shoot a music video. Setting the song upon a gruesome gothic trip with femme-fatale Izzy B. Phillips at the front and centre.

This year, you can decide who will be victorious in our category for Best Lockdown Cover below. Cast one vote for your favourite cover song. Voting closes at 7pm on Wednesday, December 16th.
