The long wait ends as Saint Raymond releases second album ‘We Forgot We Were Dreaming’

It’s been almost six years since Saint Raymond released his top 10 debut album Young Blood, but the musician has now unveiled his long-awaited second album ‘We Forgot We Were Dreaming’.

Despite that long absence, Callum Burrows hasn’t stood still. He’s been constantly refining his sound, experimenting with a string of singles and two EPs ‘A Light That Blinds’ and ‘3’.

‘We Forget We Were Dreaming’ has been teased since ‘Right Way Round’ was released in May 2020. It was a huge indie bop with anthemic synths from the get-go. Saint Raymond’s sound has stylistically progressed matched by his revolutionised lyricism which explores relationships, anxiousness and self-doubt.

Other singles ‘Wide Eyed Blind’ and ‘Alright’ sound more laidback, honing on deeper affection and soul. Tackling topics of ending a relationship and addressing mental health respectively, Saint Raymond has taken his sonic production to new heights. This album is a showcase of reflection that lets his raw passion and unique vocals shine through.

‘Soft Landing’ is another emotionally charged track in which the opening lyrics summarise the often tumultuous journey that Saint Raymond’s life has taken, “I know it’s been a while and everything’s changed,” he sings, “I lost my vision but I’m coming-of-age now.”

Lead single ‘Solid Gold’ has some poignant synths throughout. The lyrics showcase a maturity that’s grown with his musical journey and a new alternative edge which could see this album go through the charts.

“‘Solid Gold’ is about trying to rekindle the spark and make things work because you know that there is something special in the relationship and it’s worth fighting for. It’s about knowing that all of the good things override the negatives.”

Written over two years, We Forgot We Were Dreaming was recorded in Bath with producer Joe Page, and it’s a set that shows Saint Raymond growing up without growing old tackling heftier themes with a wider palette.

Whilst without managing to lose the energy that enamoured so many people to him the first time around, there’s also a newfound maturity to Saint Raymond’s voice too, a strength that provides its reflective lyricism with emotional potency.

“The album is generally about relationships – whether that be friendships or love interests,” adds Saint Raymond. “It encompasses things I have picked up from around me seeing people falling in and out of love.

“It’s also about the relationship we all have with ourselves and in our own minds.

“There are a few songs on ‘We Forgot We Were Dreaming’ that are about mental health and my relationship with that.”

He also announced his first full scale live performances with the tour kicking off in November with significantly upgraded venues. It has also been extended with the addition of six extra nights.
