Retro Video Club drop energising new anthem ‘Disaster’

Scottish indie rockers Retro Video Club continue their dominating run of singles with the release of new track ‘Disaster’.

Well known for their high energy rock and roll, the Edinburgh four-piece are back with a bang as their sub-three-minute anthem arrives at the moment we all need it most.

‘Disaster’ is a siren call to everyone that the end is in sight. Its punk rock guitars and relentlessly driving drums bring the energy you need to keep going; it’s destined to be a live hit later in the year.

The band said: “Disaster is a song about the thrill of the chase, and the chaos that ensues when you reach the finish line.”

Retro Video Club have been busy in the background building up a colossal new sound offering a new side to the band.

“We’re just freer and the songs are more interesting because of it. I’ve always stressed we just write pop songs and just dress them up as an indie rock outfit,” says frontman Liam.

Retro Video Club burst onto the scene in 2017, with a series of high-octane single releases, and a sell-out hometown show. Just a few months later, they were selling out 1,000 capacity venues (Edinburgh Assembly Rooms), and sharing stages with The Libertines among others.

With their new songs, Retro Video Club sound like a band equipped to play the biggest of stages. They say: “We were aiming for the sky, production-wise. We’ve always been proud of our live show and we really do want as much of that to come across in the recording as possible.

“When you’re writing songs, part of you is always thinking ‘this bit will be so good live’.”

With even more to come later this year, the band are determined to push things as far as possible.

The new single is the third to be taken from a larger body of work due for release later this year so keep an eye out on their social media channels.
