It was inevitable that 2020 would be the year for cover songs as millions of musicians found themselves stuck indoors with nothing better to do.

We’ve seen hours of footage from what feels like every artist or band in existence creating their own take on an original song but we can’t deny we haven’t enjoyed every single one of them.

For this year’s ICM Awards, we decided to highlight everyone’s creativity by featuring this new category to shine a spotlight on some of the amazing songs we got to enjoy!

In this category we’ve even decided to let you decide who shall be crowned ‘Best Lockdown Cover’ 2020. Voting is open now and closes when our final award category is announced on December 19th at 6pm.

Blossoms and MIles Kane covering ‘The Less I Know The Better’ by Tame Impala

What a duo, two great icons partnering together to create something amazing. Blossoms and Miles Kane is a unique pairing that actually complimented each other quite well. The stunning voice of Tom Ogden with the charismatic Miles Kane turned up the heat as they provide a lushous Britpop approach to the Psychedelic original.

Arlo Parks covering ‘Creep’ by Radiohead

This incredible breakthrough artist tackled a song from one of the biggest bands of the planet and absolutely smashed it. What a breathtaking performance. Anaïs Oluwatoyin Estelle Marinho (as her birth name) puts her powerful voice centre stage as the room they filmed in picks up every single detail in production – you would be able to hear your own heartbeat, let alone a penny drop.

Wild Front covering ‘Garden Song’ by Phoebe Bridgers

Southampton alt-indie outfit Wild Front challenged themselves to perform a track from one of their favourite artists at the moment – Phoebe Bridgers. Sticking to their electrifying 80s pop-rock sound, the band took her slow-burning, melodic song and packed it with bold synths and keys as well as Jack Williams vocals turns the song around into a 80s pop banger.

Circa Waves covering ‘There She Goes’ by The La’s

A pure British classic. ‘There She Goes’ is still as popular as ever and Circa Waves have nailed the 80s banger. The lads sound crisp and clean from their own homes as they bring the relatively simple single to life with a boosted production.

DMA’s covering ‘Better Be Home Soon’ by Crowded House

Australia’s DMA’s take on a song from 1988 by Melbourne rock icons Crowded House who have amplified the original with their own unique touch. Driven by the piano, Matthew’s voice projects all the way to the back room and despite not being too far off the original version, DMA’s are in hot competition to be crowned ‘Best Lockdown Cover’.

This year, you decide who will be victorious. Below you can cast one vote for your favourite cover song. Voting closes at 7pm on Wednesday, December 16th.

Winners from each category will be announced on Saturday, December 19th from 7pm.
