Atlanta’s small pockets offers immersive electronic soundscape

Stuck in lockdown and feeling unproductive can drive people crazy, but for Atlanta artist small pockets, aka Joey Kirby, he has embraced it as an opportunity to debut his new solo project.

Releasing his second single ‘good reason’ on Friday (February 25th), Kirby has unleashed the next chapter of his talents into the world.

The light and airy track floats through the journey of finding one’s community. Taking inspiration from memories of loved ones, the songwriter and multi-instrumentalist is paying tribute to his family and friends.

Small pockets posted on Facebook: “As this song speaks to the importance of finding ‘your community’ + ‘your family’, it has me reflecting on the folks in Ukraine being uprooted and separated from loved ones.

“(imo) family + community are the true treasures of this world. my heart hurts deeply for them.

“I’ve donated to United Help Ukraine, and I invite you to donate as well so we can multiply our impact! DM or drop in the comments other organizations you see doing good work for our global family.”

His debut single ‘Mavalene’ was dedicated for his late “warm-hearted-superhuman-undefeated-Tetris-champion” grandmother. The track is an outpouring of Kirby’s heart as he recalls the warmth of their bond and memories.

Whilst working with producers/engineer Daniel Gleason & TJ Elias (Grouplove, Lunar Vacation, Mallbangs, Babe Club), small pockets has been collaborating with incredible animator Abraham Mast to create 3D music videos for his songs – based on the coloured pencil character designs from Rich Rayburn.
