Wax Heart Sodality return with mesmerising single ‘Incel-Dumb Scene Kid’

Wax Heart Sodality have returned with their third single ‘Incel-Dumb Scene Kid’ taking a dark and sinister look at how the internet radicalises individuals.
The quartet have worked with Mouses frontman Ste Bardgett on the new track where the deeper meaning looks at the “involuntary celibate” (shortened to “incel”) a self-identifying member of an online subculture based around the inability to find a romantic or sexual partner despite desiring one, a state they describe as ‘inceldom’ or ‘incelibacy’.
Wax Heart Sodality were first discovered on ICM last year with the release of the band’s debut single ‘Alphas’ they have since gone on to drop ethereal cut ‘Hoodwinked’ and now this new number. The band’s style of music reflects the dark subject matter with unhinged volatility as it moves from the summery indie ambience of the verse, to the garage-folk feel of the chorus, to the descent of the gothic blues-inspired middle eight.
The outfit have taken a simple garage band into a unique dark art on the surface of society stagnated with the dankness of modern existence. Alongside releasing music, Wax Heart Sodality have spent their time honing their stagecraft with performances around the North-East of England and in turn exposing those who stumble across it to their raw and theatrical live performances.
However, when the pandemic hit the band, along with the rest of the world, found that their artistic expression was confined to the internet. During their time trawling the world wide web, they saw that forces were in operation that brought like-minded individuals together to be radicalised. For an organisation whose aim was to lift the deserved out of the dark and towards the light, it was sobering to see that the opposite was in operation in the vast, ethereal location of cyberspace.
