Toronto’s Tired Kid has released his single ‘Pat’s Travelling Device’ with 70s vintage warmth and 90s alternative flair.

Known as Thomas Kelly, the musician draws heavily on an indie rock and classic rock nature like artists such a Neil Young are predominant throughout. Anything goes with Tired Kid – you might find some synth-like textures such as Alvvays thrown in too.

‘Pat’s Travelling Device’ is inspired by the Enterprise, Patrick Stewart, and Gandalf, Tired Kid creates a story weaved with his own longing for adventure but also the idea of coming back to a place that doesn’t feel familiar anymore.

Speaking about the single, Thomas said: “The song centres around the idea of travelling through space trying to get away from the usual day to day and find some solitude.

“There is a feeling of coming back into a world and feeling somewhat out of place in a new environment.

“I played with the idea of space in the lyrics and really just had fun associating things I associated with that idea which is where the enterprise and Patrick Stewart came into the picture.”
