Simone Casarotti

Italian born, London based indie pop artist Simone Casarotti has swooped under the radar with his new single ‘Cantaloupe’.

Simone moved out of his hometown at 20, shortly after coming out as gay. This song is a way for Simone to free himself from resentment and rewrite his history.

Inspired by 70s inspired summer anthems, the musician tells stories of his father’s adolescence. Simone reimagines his younger years in an idolized way, without the teenage drama and life in the closet.

The track is about a moment in time and redefining happiness and joy. In his lyrics, Simone sings about joyful summer as a memory to hold on to from his past; “the cantaloupe is my favourite fruit during my summer in Italy. We would have it every day”.

The arrangement encapsulates the energy of ABBA with a nostalgic and summery flare whilst including synth keys reminiscing on George Michael.

Simone sings, plays and produces all of his songs in his bedroom. He has released his debut single ‘Blu’ last October, an 80’s pop-inspired queer love anthem.

Coming up later this year, you can watch Simone Casarotti at the Amersham Arms, New Cross London on December 10th. Check out the track below and leave an ICM Star Rating out of 10.
