learning to drive and rainbow fall cove ep

Post-punk and electronica inspired learningtodive delivers incredible atmospheric anthems

New Zealand post-punk and new romantic inspired musician learningtodrive has just released a soaring atmospheric single ‘Rainbow Fall’ as he gears up for his debut EP this Spring.

Known as Bravo Bonez, the singer, songwriter, musician and producer hails from Wellington. This year sees the artist prepare for his biggest year yet as he plans to release his ‘Norwegian Pop’ EP in late-March.

‘Rainbow Fall’ is the second offering, following ‘Falling Leaves’ (listen here), where Bravo uses his expertise of various instruments from keyboards to the violin to produce a truly breathtaking single full of anthemic atmospherics, ambient dream pop and a smattering of shoegaze.

This single was recorded at Ocean Sound Recordings, Norway in August 2019 where the weather was surprisingly hot. In 26 degree heat, learningtodrive was situated in the most beautiful, cinematic spot on the western seafront in Giske to record these remarkable songs.

“Humanity. Humility. Don’t let our rainbows fall.”

‘Rainbow Fall’ also happens to be released in a timely manner as US politics takes an unnerving turn for the worst. The track is all about the division between left and right.

learningtodive said: “This song, although not directly written about the USA, is a timely release as the USA transitions from one administration to another.

“It is a call for reconciliation between Left and Right, and not to let dark forces manipulate us into fighting each other.

“A call to be humble, and not to forget others’ humanity.”

The 80s-inspired electronica and post-punk anthem was co-produced by Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Mel C) and engineered/mixed by the award-winning Clint Murphy (50 Cent, Enter Shikari). You can hear the perfection in every note – it’s a masterpiece.

I’ve had this song stuck on repeat. Have a listen now and let us know what you think too by leaving a review below.
