Portsmouth trio PARAFFIN drop new single ‘Black and Blue’ as they continue to build on their stark progress.

The three lads; Billy, Tom and Tyler, have been making their mark on the south coast. From selling out shows to gaining BBC attention, PARAFFIN are getting noticed.

Returning with a new track since their driving rock anthem ‘Make You Stay’, the outfit have delivered a new approach to their diverse sound.

‘Black and Blue’ is a gritty number that intertwines Billy’s confident vocal presence with guitar riffs that gradually builds up into a powerful piece of art.

Singer Billy explains: “A punchy hot take, watching the girl you love fall for somebody else. Seeing before your very eyes that even to your best efforts, she will always want someone else…”.

‘Black and Blue’ is a continuation of the bands aggressive improvement in self-production. All instruments, mixing and mastering were carried out by the three members of the band.

Tyler builds on that: “The last two track were perhaps more sugary than this. ‘Black and Blue’ calls for a more evocative soundscape and at first we were scared of the orchestral glimpses and stadia production – but it’s helped us capture the same energy it gives out when we play it live.”

It’s undoubtedly the groups most insular and evocative track, showing a more vulnerable side than previously seen.

On the musicality of the track, Tom adds: “‘Black and Blue’ is a balladic track that blends subtly with a hard-hitting rock sound.

“The vocal delivery throughout the verse paints an emotional picture, then explodes in the chorus alongside the cacophony of noise created by crashing drums, and distorted guitars”.
