Modern Age Music Song of the Day: The Lathums – ‘All My Life’

Wigan quartet The Lathums are enjoying a rapid rise to notoriety, resulting in the band inking a seven-figure multi-album deal with Island Records earlier this year.
The first release via the new label is single ‘All My Life’, recorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios, and interestingly the first song lead singer Alex Moore ever wrote as a 16-year-old. The new track is a beautifully poignant and perfectly understated song, and a stark reminder of why The Lathums are one of the most hotly tipped new bands in the country.
Alex Moore explained of the track: “The message of the song is significant for me, it was borne out of desperation, pain and anger. I am not sure why. I had already had a lot of life experience by then, I was and still feel like an old head on young shoulders. When I read the lyrics it’s actually quite optimistic, so I was probably looking to my guitar to escape. Make sense of the world. Make a new version of the world for myself.”
The Lathums have announced a headline tour run for 2021. Tickets at www.thelathums.com
