Mawpit infuse alt rock with hard-hitting melodies

Formed in Cardiff in late 2019, Mawpit have burst onto the scene with a titanic, yet refreshing take on contemporary alt-rock.

They have kicked off their journey debut single ‘Nature’s Curse,’ a political anthem with unforgettable lyrics and hard-hitting melodies.

Opening with the thunderous chorus riff, the song gives you a taste of its raw power before feeding you with the lullaby vocal of the verse.

Lament about the wildfire’s in Australia in last year and the rising concern of global warming, the track is written from the perspective of Mother Nature; a ballad for her humans.

She sings of her disappointment in them as they ruin her land by burning her trees and slaughtering her animals. With the climactic lyrics “Your greed will be the death of you, and you’ll be the death of me” it’s difficult to ignore the message of ‘Nature’s Curse’ and the melancholy that looms over you long after its end.

Mawpit have hit the ground running with a refreshing take on on contemporary alt-rock. Comprised of Cait (vocals), Jordan (guitar) and Aled (drums) they don’t shy away from socio-political topics in their writing such as feminism, environmentalism, politics and animal rights.

Raised on grunge, punk and alt rock music and a with Cait inspired by pop, soul and jazz; the trio’s sound creates an otherworldly amalgamation of grit and finesse.
