King No-One return with frenetic single ‘Not Willing To Sacrifice My Life’

King No-One returns with new single 'Not Willing To Sacrifice My Life'

Stepping up to take their rightful place amongst alt-pop royalty, York four-piece King No-One have returned with their new cut ‘Not Willing to Sacrifice My Life’.

Having spent the past seven years turning heads and breaking hearts with their own inimitable brand of fidgety indie-pop, King No-One eschew the traditional northern grit of much of their contemporaries, instead an inherent optimism runs through the course of the band’s tracks, providing even their darkest offerings with a buoyancy that’s difficult to ignore.

‘Not Willing to Sacrifice My Life’ picks up where said EP OOMM left off. Frenetic synths are matched perfectly against skittering percussion, while a pulsating bass and insidious hook serve to propel the track to its conclusion.

Despite similarities to the band’s darker previous singles (‘OOMM’, ‘Toxic Love’), ‘…Sacrifice My Life’ feels bolder, and ballsier, its understated verses the perfect anthesis for its stadium-ready chorus.

“Not Willing To Sacrifice My Life is about the struggle with addiction.” explains frontman Zach Lounds. “Be it a vice, a person or a goal. I have a personal problem of not being able to stop, I have a goal and it’s just tunnel vision to reach it – and what I failed to realise was that on the path I chose, I was causing destruction to myself.”

“These tendencies also fell into play when using narcotics. And manifested in a ‘I can’t, and I won’t stop’ attitude. One night this went too far. My mind was fried as I tried to coat my brain in things that ridiculed the way I think over and over I abused my mind in a three-pronged attack.”

Through pure grit, talent and drive King No-One epitomises the modern go-getting DIY culture – conquering the hearts and minds of a huge fanbase with constant touring, massive singles and an ethos of equality.
