Irish indie pop sensation Somebody’s Child is an ICM Ones To Watch 2021 artist as the singer-songwriter looks set to raise the bar even further.
Since the age of five, Cian Godfrey (AKA Somebody’s Child) took to playing the piano in the family apartment in Paris. Fast-forward to today, Cian has fast become one of the hottest prospects in Ireland having accumulated millions of streams and significant support.
His latest single ‘Lost’ pulls on the emotive heartstrings and is the second chapter in their upcoming sophomore EP Hope, Amongst Other Things. Somebody’s Child is energetic, loose, and completely organic. The EP is set to be a mixtape aiming to show off the different characteristics and personalities of Godfrey’s songwriting and style.
Speaking about ‘Lost’, Somebody’s Child said: “Lost was written when I came out of college and experienced a lot of career anxiety.
“Everyone else seemed to know what they we’re doing except for me.
“The song taught me a lot in hindsight, I think I was probably suppressing a lot of emotions that were manifesting in situations that weren’t really relevant to what was going on inside.
“It’s a real example of what a therapeutic experience songwriting can be.”
Full of anthemic hooks, his narrative driven indie rock catalogue is a fierce statement of intent and kickstarts an exciting new era for Somebody’s Child.
