I think we can all agree 2020 has been the year of the live stream. Just like performing cover songs, online performances have too been a saviour in getting us through the various lockdowns in the year.

But the question is – which online performance was the best? Take a look at the nominees below and let us know which online performance you think should take first place.

Sløtface – Live at Stavanger Hall

The Norweigan pop-punk band wowed fans in June with a performance of their album ‘Sorry For The Late Reply’ in its entirety. The four-piece which formed in 2012 occupied an empty concert hall in their hometown, Stavanger. The performance had special guests alongside incredible visuals, which included an orchestral performance of ‘Luminous’. Earlier in the year, Sløtface live-streamed a gig from lead singer Haley Shea’s living room, where they performed their cover of Lorde’s ‘Supercut’. The band were meant to be in the middle of their European tour when Covid 19 hit and the shows meant to be cancelled. Both live streams were a success, but is the Stavanger Concert Hall livestream going to be crowned our best online performance of 2020?

Calva Louise – Live for Molotow

Up next is Calva Louise. Manchester-based three-piece performed a live stream in their living room in support of Molotow Music Club in Hamburg who was hit hard by the Covid 19 restrictions. The performance included their fan favourites in a stripped back and gentler way, which really shows the talent of the band.  Earlier this year Calva Louise recorded with Strange Bones and released ‘Nine Lives’, which was recorded and produced themselves in their ‘Lockdown HQ’ just outside of Blackpool.

Doves – BT Sport Champions League Final Coverage

With stunning cinematography set against the backdrop of a Champions League highlights reel – Doves performed their smash hit ‘Carousels’ from the band’s first album in 11 years; The Universal Want (Read our review here). The single is a massive anthem that is keeping the band look and sound just as fresh as they did 15 years ago. Are Doves worthy to be this year’s winners?

Bugeye – Sucker Music Week

All-female London trio Bugeye have been making a lot of noise in 2020 with their debut album Ready Steady Bang and has been critically acclaimed on the blogging circuit. Sucker’s live streamed shows were a big hit, giving artists a platform to share their music to current and new fans. Bugeye have jumped at the chance and have certainly used it to their advantage. Will they be victorious?

Ron Gallo – Live at SPACE

American lo-fi indie pop artist Ron Gallo is a new discovery for ICM and we felt inclined to nominate him for Best Live Performance following his live streamed show at SPACE. Showcasing his interesting exploration into different genres in his songs, Ron Gallo is a unique gem that is gathering momentum. Could this performance be our winner?

This year, you can decide who will be victorious in our category for Best Lockdown cover below. Cast one vote for your favourite cover song. Voting closes at 7pm on Wednesday, December 16th.

Winners from each category will be announced on Saturday, December 19th from 7pm.
