Fremmand return with dark and eary track ‘Vón’

Nordic indie band Fremmand swiftly return with new single ‘Vón’ as we eagerly await their forthcoming album titled Wrong.
As previously discovered on the site last month, the Danish alt rock quartet have a passion for 80s New Wave like Modern English and typical 90s Alt Rock riffs which offers a chilling vibe when it’s all pieced together in atmospheric style.
Meaning hope in Faroese, ‘Vón’ is about that nationalism and intolerance can be very poisonous and it’s important not to forget what history has taught us. The single shows a darker and heavier side of Fremmand, yet the outro is electronic-driven with a hint of Kraftwerk, with spacey guitars. It brings out a gloomy and eary atmospheric with the booming drums and crashing cymbols.
The lead singer Jana Hjalgrimsdottir describes the song: “When we were going to write the lyrics for ‘Vón,’ we had the starting point of a feeling, a strong sense of hope.
“A sense that even though there is so much injustice and that at times it seems that the world is filled with more and more hatred and loneliness, there is still hope.
“A hope that we can make a difference, to give a smile and get a smile back, to give a compliment to the checkout lady or lend a hand to a neighbour, that makes the day a little bit better.”
Working with producer Michael Patterson, from his studio “The Pleasuredome” in Los Angeles Fremmand’s second album Wrong will be released September 4th, 2020 on Tutl Records.
