easy life

Over the last two years, Easy Life have proved themselves to be one of the most exciting up and coming bands in the UK.

From soundtracking Fifa 19 with ‘Pockets‘ to placing second on the BBC Sound of 2020 list – the five-piece from Leicester have made a promising start to their careers.

At the start of lockdown, the band dropped the two-track single ‘see you later maybe never’ featuring ‘peanut butter’ and ‘petty crime’.

Despite the fact both tunes were billed as ‘demos’ the release was one of the bands most inventive and exciting yet.

Now they’ve repeated the trick with new two-track single ‘who gives a fuck?’.

The first track is an older song ‘Nightmares’ which according to the band’s twitter was “never properly released”.

The tune has been around for a little while now but is still one of the bands strongest.

‘Who gives a fuck about my nightmares?’ is one of the best opening lines to any song released in the last couple of years.

The tune utilises the band’s now-famous mix of suburbs induced indie pop and hip-hop.

Bopping along quite happily this really is a summer tune in every sense.

Whilst we may have been robbed of garden parties and beer gardens this year rest assured that ‘Nightmares’ will be the perfect soundtrack for their return.

The second track on ‘who gives a fuck?’ is the brand new release ‘Pop Tarts’.

The three-minute tune is a slower affair that revels in candy-themed lyrics and laid back pop sensibilities.

Lead singer Murray Matravers croons his melodies with an enviable sense of suave.

Lyrics such as ‘I might be feeling blue but got a pink and yellow mindset’ plays brilliantly into the bands distinct colour scheme which accompanies many of their releases.

The relaxed vibes of the track add to the mythos Easy Life have been working hard to create over the last few years and proves once again that their brand of stoner-hip-hop is nothing to be sniffed at.

Also, who doesn’t love a bit of creative sampling to end a track?

‘Gimme some pop tart shit!’
