Ones to watch artist Deco have dropped their debut EP ‘Real Life’ today! The Nottingham, now London-based duo have reached yet another important milestone.

Leading a new indie pop revolution, Max Kendall and John Dell show us a masterclass on how to write a pop record for the modern age.

Starting with ‘I Don’t Wanna Go Out’, it’s a track written about having the anxiety to socialise and perform. The song is high on 80s synth pop in a whirlwind of catchy lyrics, infectious riffs and endlessly playable sounds.

New track ‘Make Up Your Mind’ has an undeniably good funky groove with a boppy pop chorus which moves swiftly into the lead single ‘Real Life’ packing an almighty punch. There’s so much in this quartet’s locker and the saxophone on this number makes all the difference.

Speaking about the track, lead singer Max said: “Real Life is a refreshing realisation of how, despite our dependence on modern technology, experiencing something in real life really cannot be recreated or competed with.

“In this case, the song speaks about how the simplicity of meeting someone in real life comes without all of the complications and games of so-called ‘modern love’ on dating apps, and captures a feeling of hope that humans can still function in a natural way, without the digital aids we have become so reliant on.”

Final track ‘Beaches’ has a 1975 vibe with mellow synth melodies and soft echoing vocals, this track is completely new from the ‘usual’ funky and upbeat sound we’d expect but it works so well.

The end product to this debut EP is four undeniable bops with a bite, infusing everything from their indie roots to new funk grooves. Deco are destined for big things in 2020 and their debut EP is just the start.
