CLOSEUP Artist Spotlight: The Tin Pigeons

the tin pigeons

Returning with new single ‘Good Goodbye’, CLOSEUP Promotions have a chat with duo The Tin Pigeons for this week’s Artist Spotlight.

The Tin Pigeons, it’s great to have a chat! We love your music as you well know. Tell us a bit more about yourselves?

Thanks so much for having us guys! We really appreciate all the love you’ve given us! For those that may not know, we are Tin Pigeons, bouncy two-piece indie pop made up of myself; Fraser and Thom. Hailing from the East Midlands (Leicestershire to be specific!)

What part of the musical process do you enjoy most, and why? is it performing live, creating your tracks or..?

Hard question! I think first and foremost we have always believed we are a live band, we are happiest on the road, exploring new places and meeting excited lovely people! So I would say that touring is what we love most…although a lot of the time on tour you daydream about lazy studio days…and when we are in the studio we dream about being on the road!

Your tunes have been listened to millions across the world as Spotify informs us, Spotify is now such a big player in the industry, how important do you think it is for acts?

As a relatively undiscovered/emerging artist Spotify is great for us as it means we can access a huge new audience which is invaluable, although as there is sooo much music out in the world at the minute, it often feels like a very competitive area!

If you created a Tin Pigeons Festival, and could pick three headliners, who would you go for?!

I love being asked this question! Paramore, Ben Howard and Springtseen!

Good Goodbye is your latest single, we love it! Can you give us a bit more insight into the meaning of the song?

Thanks guys! I wanted to write a breakup song from the perspective of the person doing the ‘dumping’ as opposed to the person being dumped…so essentially the song is all about saying goodbye to something but it being a good thing, a bit of a blessing in disguise when you feel super attached to something but its actually no good for you, it’s better to say goodbye.
