CLOSEUP Artist Spotlight: Naked Next Door

Releasing their new EP ‘Swerving Out Wide’ CLOSEUP spoke with Milton Keynes-based quartet band Naked Next Door for our Artist Spotlight feature.
Naked Next Door, it’s great to have a chat! We love your music as you well know. This June you take on one a huge LDN headline show, what should we expect!?!
You can expect loud tunes from our new EP “Swerving Out Wide” and from our old EP too. Will be testing the water with some new material too!
What part of the musical process do you enjoy most, and why? is it performing live, creating your tracks or..?
That’s a hard one to answer. The birth of a song begins with Euan (lead vocalist) writing the melodies and chords on acoustic and then bringing it to the band. That’s always exciting, writing songs and bringing them to life in the rehearsal space. However, we pride ourselves on being a powerful and exciting live band and we love taking our music to the people, so we enjoy that a lot too.
Your tunes have been listened to thousands of times across the world as Spotify informs us, Spotify is now such a big player in the industry, how important do you think it is for acts?
We think Spotify is a huge part of the music industry. Things like playlists have become a massive deal to artists and can quite literally break bands. Since streaming platforms, the industry has changed dramatically!
If you created a Naked Next Door Festival, and could pick three headliners, who would you go for?!
It’d have to be, Liam Gallagher headlining (we’re sad we can’t see him at Reading this year due to the coronavirus) Biffy Clyro and Catfish and the Bottlemen.
Tell us a little about what your new music, when should we be expecting it?!
We released our EP “Swerving Out Wide” on the 21st of May. We recorded this EP with Larry Hibbitt (Sea Girls, Nothing But Thieves, Dinosaur Pile Up) who brought the songs to life. These songs express the highs and lows of relationships and life.
