Blaydek

Indie three-piece Blaydek you need to get listening to following the release of his second single ‘Don’t You Have a Thing Now?’

Usually found bonding over pints in London with a shared love of Funkadelic, Steeley Dan, and Led Zeppelin, the dreamy-shoegaze pop outfit is comprised of singer, guitarist and producer Chris Blaydes, bassist Adj and drummer Ewan Ferrier.

Recorded at a number of friends’ houses in and around Hackney in London Don’t You Have a Thing Now?’ was produced by Chris and mixed by John Dell from Deco. The single has 80s synth grooves and soaring vocals in the chorus which reminds me of a combination of Liam Fray and Her’s frontman Stephen Fitzpatrick met with a tiny bit of Noel Gallagher in the high notes.

It’s a daydreamer’s recess. With themes of loss and regret, but an accepting undertone, it is packed with rich synths and beautiful guitars. It is set to make you settle into reverie.

The song was originally scrapped by Blaydek but it was reinstated after an opinion post on Instagram stories showed an overwhelming enthusiasm to re-record it a release as a single. And here we are, with a well-produced song sounding absolutely incredible.

The band were expecting to play their debut show in April but that’s understandable been forced into an online performance. Listen to the track below and leave an ICM Star Rating out of 10.
