AnotherMay incorporate Mexican style dream pop with indie pop

San Jose five-piece AnotherMay are back with their sophomore self-titled EP as the group bring a fresh approach to the dream pop scene.
AnotherMay is a Mexican dream-pop band founded by Brett and Eduardo in 2018. What originally was Eduardo working with Brett to make some songs about a failed friendship, turned into a five-man dream-pop band.
Whilst incorporating Spanish lyrics from frontman Eduardo, the band (also comprising of Brad, Elias, Billy) combine their diverse musical backgrounds and cultures together.
In order to bring a voice to the common struggles and emotions that are felt by young adults today, the ‘AnotherMay’ EP incorporates elements of dream pop, indie pop and synths.
It kicks off with my personal favourite ‘5150’ which recounts the progression of feelings that an individual goes through when their partner is mentally unstable.
Spanish vocal tracks ‘Para Los Hombres’ criticizes Latino households for failing to educate young men about the toxic consequences of machismo. Alternatively, ‘Los Pinguinos’ sings about a type of platonic love that can only be found between friends.
The EP is all about feeling intimate as all of the seven songs reflect personal experiences that each of the members have experienced.
Through their two Albums, AnotherMay puts out music in English and Spanish, with themes ranging from love to a coming of age. Check out the new EP below and leave an ICM Star Rating out of 10.
